Fuel Supply in WA

Facts and Figures on the Fuel Crisis in Western Australia

There has been a lot of information about fuel supply shortages and disruptions across WA, and it’s understandable that this kind of news can create uncertainty. There's certainly no need to panic, but here are the facts and figures of the fuel crisis, including updates on fuel supply in regional and remote areas of WA.

Important Fuel Updates:

The Australian Government will halve the fuel excise on petrol and diesel for three months, reducing the cost of fuel by 26.3 cents per litre.

This will reduce the cost of a 65L tank of fuel by nearly $19.

The halving of the fuel excise will commence from April 1 and run to 30 June.

Fuel Availability

While other states are reporting high number of stations without petrol or diesel, WA is reporting... 6.

Planning your next road trip and feeling unsure about fuel availability? Take a breath, there’s no need to hit the brakes on your travel plans.

Imports of petrol and diesel supplies remain secure, with ships arriving on schedule, AND we've checked with local fuel stations out in the regions who report stable supply.
That means you can keep your plans rolling and focus on what really matters… the open road, the stories, and the moments along the way.

Fuel Cost

Pricing up the change in fuel cost can help make the travel decision easier.

We know rising fuel prices are on your minds right now, so we've gone ahead and done some maths for you.

If fuel prices climbed to $3.50/L, that’s roughly an extra $370 in fuel across the entire journey to Broome.

We'll do our part by keeping our prices stable, so you can enjoy an extended stay in Broome or any other locations in the Summerstar family.

What you can do about the fuel crisis

Do:

  • Get your engine tuned
  • Make sure your tyres are inflated and properly aligned to avoid rolling resistance that can increase fuel consumption by two per cent
  • This one might hurt, but if the weather is fine, try driving without the air conditioner on.

Do NOT:

  • Panic buy and stock up on fuel unnecessarily
  • Drive like an F1 driver. Heavy throttle use and excessive acceleration are a guaranteed way of using fuel or range
  • Overpack your car, weighing it down will just increase your fuel consumption. Time to be a Tetris master.
