Heritage-Listed Walpole Jetty Restoration Complete

  • Summerstar Tourist Parks and Mandurah Jetty Construction have completed the restoration of the Walpole jetty at Walpole Rest Point Caravan Park
  • The gazebo is heritage-listed and of historical significance to the Walpole community
  • The jetty was officially reopened with a ribbon cutting ceremony by park managers and long-time repeat guest; Kelly Burrows

Walpole, Western Australia: Summerstar Tourist Parks and Mandurah Jetty Construction are thrilled to announce the completion of the restoration of the heritage-listed Walpole jetty and gazebo at the Walpole Rest Point Caravan Park. The iconic gazebo, which has been a major attraction for guests to the park and the Walpole community, has been lovingly restored to its former glory.

As part of the restoration project, Summerstar Tourist Parks engaged the services of Mandurah Jetty Construction to rebuild the jetty and restore the heritage-listed gazebo. The gazebo and jetty have a rich history and are an important part of the Walpole community. In fact, a long-time regular customer whose family has been coming to the park for over 30 years, believes that the spike on the top of the gazebo was originally part of the mast from the wreck of the Mandalay.

The (now restored) gazebo and jetty have been a drawcard to the park for many years, and guests love taking in the stunning views, fishing, and watching the pelicans resting on it, or even catching their first fish from it. The gazebo has also been a popular spot for wedding photos, as well as featuring in footage of surfers heading out to surf ‘The Right’.

“We feel privileged to be here to see the restoration of such an iconic part of Walpole,” said the park managers. “It is wonderful and exciting to see the gazebo and jetty being restored to their former glory, and we are thrilled for our guests who can once again enjoy the beauty and history of this important landmark.”

The jetty was officially reopened by park managers at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sunday 12th March 2023. Kelly Burrows; long-time visitor and repeat guest to the park for over 15 years, did the honours of cutting the ribbon and caught the first fish off the new jetty about 10 minutes later.
