Taking your furry friend on holiday is the stuff of dreams! What can be better than hanging out with your dog on unspoilt beaches or exploring rugged landscapes together? Western Australia is doggy heaven with its many dog friendly places to stay, so instead of leaving your pet behind or relying on a kennel, opt for a dog friendly cabin!
Summerstar Tourist Parks have dog friendly cabins in a selection of their parks, and dog friendly caravan and camping sites in most of their parks, allowing you to plan out the ideal dog friendly vacation with your canine best mate.
One of the main reasons to find a dog friendly place to stay is having the freedom to explore stunning natural landscapes with your dog. WA is known for our stunning beaches, towering forests, and fantastic outdoor activities. This means plenty of outdoor time, including hiking, long walks, swimming, and even dog-friendly beaches, all within reach. Your dog can stretch their legs, breathe fresh air, and enjoy the same beautiful surroundings that you do. Instead of being confined to a hotel room or dealing with the stress of travel, your dog will have space to roam and explore.
Traveling with your dog often means navigating pet restrictions at hotels, cramped car rides, and the anxiety of leaving them behind in an unfamiliar place. Dog friendly places to stay will provide a homey and relaxed environment for your pet with plenty of room for them to roam safely around. Many cabins even offer pet-friendly amenities such as dog beds, water bowls, and treats, ensuring your dog feels as comfortable as possible. The relaxed environment also helps reduce your dog’s stress, making for a happier, more enjoyable holiday for both of you.

Staying in a caravan park with your dog
Most of our parks have dog friendly caravan and camping sites, so you can camp out in style with your dog in your tent, campervan or caravan on-site. The only park that is not dog friendly is Eighty Mile Beach Caravan Park due to its location in a Marine Park.
When booking a dog friendly place to stay, it’s important to consider a few details to ensure your holiday goes smoothly:
Each dog friendly cabin has its own set of policies. Make sure to check whether there are any restrictions on the size, breed, or number of dogs allowed. Some cabins may charge additional pet fees, while others may offer special discounts for furry guests. It's also important to check for any rules regarding leash requirements, cleaning up after your pet, and whether there are designated pet areas around the property.
Just like you would pack for yourself, make sure to bring everything your dog needs for the trip. Don’t forget their food, water bowls, leash, collar, bedding, and any medications. If your dog is prone to getting dirty or wet, you may want to pack towels or wipes to keep them clean. A portable crate or carrier can be helpful, especially for transport or if your dog is used to having their own space.
Check out the surrounding area for dog-friendly activities. Many cabin locations are near hiking trails, dog parks, lakes, and other attractions that cater to pets. Some destinations even have events or festivals where dogs are welcome. If you're planning on taking part in any activities, such as hiking or swimming, make sure the location is safe and accessible for your dog
Bringing your dog on holiday to a dog-friendly cabin offers the best of both worlds: a peaceful retreat in nature and the joy of sharing experiences with your beloved pet.
